Josh Harder (D-CA-10)

Josh Harder is running against incumbent Republican Jeff Denham to represent California’s 10th congressional district in the United States Congress! While represented by a Republican, the district has not voted for a Republican for a statewide office since Schwarzenegger’s re-election in 2006. It is currently rated as a toss-up.

Background and Achievements

A lifelong resident of the district, Josh Harder is ready to move California’s 10th district forward. Following his graduations from both Modesto Public High School and Stanford University, Josh moved to Africa, where he helped farmers. Josh attended Harvard’s Business and Kennedy School of Government upon returning to the United States. Josh has spent his post-grad life assisting others, from small business owners while working at Bessemer Venture Partners to students at Modesto Junior College, where he currently serves as a business professor.

Positions on Key Issues

  • Advocate for women’s reproductive rights
  • Supporter of paid family leave
  • Strong supporter of public education

Prospects & Opponents

Josh is running against Jeff Denham; a Republican who is totally out of touch with the district. The district has repeatedly voted for Democrats statewide, except for Jeff Denham who is in his fourth term, beginning in 2010. Denham won his last election with only 8,000 votes. Hillary Clinton also won the district. The race is a toss-up, according to the Cook Political Report.
