Background and Achievements
Naomi began working for Congresswoman Shea-Porter over ten years ago. A native of the district, Naomi began working in civic engagement following her 2006 graduation from the University of Richmond Law School. Naomi first began working for Carol as her Deputy Chief of Staff, in which she managed the annual budget. She soon became Carol’s Chief of Staff, in which she led the entire Congressional office. Later, Naomi moved back to New Hampshire and served as Carol’s campaign manager for her successful 2012 election before returning to her Chief of Staff position. She continued to serve as both Chief of Staff and Campaign Manager throughout the following years before deciding to run for Carol’s open seat. Prospects & Opponents
New Hampshire’s first district is a swing district, but the Cook Political Report, Inside Elections, and Crystal Ball all rate it as either lean Democratic or tilt Democratic. Shea-Porter won her 2016 re-election despite the district voting for Donald Trump. The district does not have a clear electoral pattern: in 2012, it voted for Obama by 2 points, and in 2016, Trump by 2 points. Shea-Porter won her 2016 election, lost in 2014, and won in 2012. The small electoral victory margin have made Democrats hopeful that they can keep this seat in the 2018 election. The primary is on September 11thand Naomi is a strong candidate with strong feminist values. She is an expert on New Hampshire’s first district and its needs.
