Ann Kirkpatrick
Ann Kirkpatrick is running for an open seat in the First Congressional District in Arizona, which includes Flagstaff, most of northern Arizona and stretches south to the northern portions of Phoenix and Tucson. The current Republican Congressman, Rick Renzi has been indicted for extortion, fraud and money laundering and is retiring.
Background:
Kirkpatrick, a former member of the Arizona State House of Representatives in 2004, also served as Coconino County’s first woman Deputy County attorney, Sedona City attorney and faculty member of Coconino Community College (Business Law and Ethics). Kirkpatrick earned a B.A. at the University of Arizona and a J.D. degree at University of Arizona College of Law. She was born and raised in the district – actually on a Native American reservation. She has a long history as a feminist and education advocate.
